This Old Trailer : Replacing a 7-Pole Connector- Video

This Old Trailer : Replacing a 7-Pole Connector

Today on This Old Trailer we are going to diagnose some wiring problems. The problem with this trailer is that when you plug the trailer into the vehicle none of the lights work. It could be a variety of problems but the first thing we are going to do is start from the front and work our way back. Just to make sure there is nothing wrong with the towing vehicle use an independent power source to power up the trailer just to make sure. Then we will turn on the lights and check in the back. We have got our power supply on and it looks like there is nothing working in the back and also it looks like the running lights were not working either. Lets go back up to the front and check the connector. 00:33 more

This Old Trailer: Replacing a 6-Pole Connector- Video

This Old Trailer: Replacing a 6-Pole Connector

Today on This Old Gooseneck Trailer we are going to install part number PK11604 from Pollak. This is their 6-pole connector and we are going to replace the one that is originally on this trailer right now. Now, what has happened to this one is it has been basically pulled apart a few times and basically the insides are getting worn out and some of the screws a striped out. So, we are just going to go through it and replace it. The first thing we want to do is go ahead and take out this screw and this screw here. This little screw right here, this is kind of a clamp that holds the cable in place. Then this little set screw holds the inside in place and in alignment. OK, let us push that on out. Now, when you go ahead and take these wires apart, note which wires go to what. On the inside of the connector they are all labeled left turn, right turn, TM for trailer marker lights, S is for stop which will be for brakes typically and you have the A in the middle for auxiliary for whatever you want to use and then you have GD for ground. 0:55 more

This Old Trailer: Replace Wiring with a 7-Pole Cable- Video

This Old Trailer: Replace Wiring with a 7-Pole Cable

Today on This Old Trailer we are going to replace the wiring on this trailer. Right now, this trailer has a 5 pull socket here and the owner uses a patch cord in between here and his tow vehicle. What we are going to do is remove all this and add a 7-way cable that leads right to his tow vehicle. We will be using part number H20046. We will unbolt the connector here. Then we will go ahead and untape it and undo the screw right here, it should release the inside part where the pins are and the wires are connected. Tale that, push everything out. Simply disconnect our wires. 1:04 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Kia Sedona 20036- Video

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Kia Sedona 20036

Today were going to show you a popular upgrade. We have here a four pole flat that has been installed on a vehicle. The owner has a boat trailer now and it has a five wire flat. So were going to convert that four wire to a five wire flat. We will show you how to deal with part number 20036 which is the adapter itself, and the bracket which is part number 20046. Our first step we need to do is take off the four pole and then well uninstall the bracket and put in the new bracket. It may take some force, but you have to pull to get this out of here. We actually used a rubber mallet to tap it a little bit, now this bracket can come off which we have previously loosened up. Now well install our new bracket and it will go in the same spot as before. What were going to do next is get our four pole ready which we have cleaned out with WD-40 and then were going to put in some dielectric grease. Well put that inside here and then were going to attach our four pole from our adapter inside there. more

Trailer Wiring and Light Replacement Demonstration- Video

Trailer Wiring and Light Replacement Demonstration

Today were going to be replacing the wiring on this trailer. We will be replacing a 4 pole flat, as you can tell this one is pretty beat up and worn, so it has to be replaced. We are going to cut this wire off and we are going to replace this brown wire also. We are going to cut this loose and pull the rest of our wire through, on this trailer here it is pretty open so we can reach the wiring. Just in case though, if your wiring was run in conduit and you are replacing it, do not pull all of this out yet. We will actually tie on the new wires and use these wires to pull them through. We are going to cut off all of this old wire here, and we are going to take off this old light too. I would like to point something out on this 4 pole flat, you will notice there are actually 5 wires coming out of it. What is happening is on the inside of this pin, which is for the running lights, has two wires coming out. more
